ARC 3325 Architectural Design 3.2 (5)


The Second Term Of Third Year Emphasizes Working Within A Specific Context, Both In Terms Of A Site In An Historic Setting And In Terms Of The Materials And Logic Of Building. It Offers The Opportunity To Link With The History Course On Modern Architecture By Locating A Design Project In A Setting Being Studied In The History Course. The Course Also Incorporates A Hands-on Experience With Building Materials And Systems That Relates To A Design Project For A Specific Climate And Topography. For Example, Wood Construction Could Be Explored In Conjunction With The National Wood Design Competition. The Competition Experience Also Prepares The Student For The Possibility Of Entering A Competition At The Fourth-year Or Professional Level.
