Information Technology, BSThe Department of Computer and Information Sciences (CIS) at Florida A&M University offers the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (IT) program both face-to-face and online. The goal of the undergraduate IT program is to prepare students to use and support the appropriate use of computer technology to meet diverse needs of business, government, education and other organizations. IT graduates will possess the skills and knowledge to assume appropriate entry-level professional positions, and to grow into leadership positions or pursue graduate study. The face-to-face IT program currently offers five focus areas: Information Assurance and Security (IAS), Health Informatics (HI), Data Mining (DM), Mobile Computing (MC), and Web Design (WD). The online IT undergraduate degree program has the same requirements as the face-to-face program. An online IT major is required to complete three courses in each of two focus areas. The online IT program will offer the IAS and MC focus areas in the initial implementation. The CIS Department plans to add the DM and WD focus areas within the first two years. Simultaneously, the department will begin discussions with the School of Allied Health Sciences to offer the HI focus area in the online IT program. |
