PHT 4028 Prof Develop Pre-phy Therapy


Students will learn aspects of professionalism and how to develop specific professional behaviors. The course will emphasize behaviors that are highly valued such as professional demeanor, teamwork, organizational skills, empathy, and initiative. Teaching professional behaviors will also be accomplished through the role modeling/mentoring approach. Students will be provided guidance through definitions of professional behaviors, both as students and clinicians. These behaviors are woven through categories which will include: dependability, professional presentation, initiative, empathy, cooperation, clinical reasoning, supervisory processes, verbal communication, and written communication.  As students and future therapist, these behaviors and skills are necessary to survive in an ever-changing, evolving, and dynamic market place.  Students will learn that professionalism and professional behaviors needs to be a conscious, active and deliberate process on the part of health care practitioners.
