Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, BS

The broadcast journalism program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in broadcast journalism. Students who complete this sequence will be prepared to assume positions as television news reporter, associate producer, producer, and videographer.

Freshman Year

Total: 32

*Student must earn at least a B and a C in ENC 1101  and ENC 1102 . Student who fails to meet this requirement must earn a B or better in ENC 2300 Improving Writing Competency (3) .
** Alternate - HUM 2230 Historical Survey II (3) .
***Alternates - SPC 1608/ SPC 2608 Public Speaking (an Honors Section Is Available) (3)  or SPC 1050 Foundation of Speech or SPC 1050 Speech And Language Control (3) .
****Alternate - AFA 3104 The African Amer Exp .

Sophomore Year

Total: 31

*Alternate - LIT 2120 Introduction to Literature II (3) .
** Alternates - MUH 3116 Jazz History  or MUL 2111 Introduction To Music I (2) / MUL 2112 Introduction To Music II (2)  or CRW 3410 Creative Nonfiction or ENC 3320 Advanced Composition (3) .

Junior Year

Total: 33

*Alternative - AMH 2020 U.S. History: 1865 To Present (3)  or AMH 4420 History Of Florida (3) .

Senior Year

Total: 29

*Alternate - Introduction to Philosophy

Other Requirements

Students must earn at least a “C” grade in all core courses and respective sequence courses. No course can count more than once to satisfy degree requirement
