Educational Leadership


Admissions Requirements

An applicant must:

  1. Meet all university admission requirements: i.e., “B” (3.0) average in the last sixty (60) semester hours or 90 quarter hours of undergraduate work. Submit GRE scores. Test results must be recent (within the last five years). A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  2. Present three (3) letters of recommendation from qualified professions. The letters should address the applicant’s personal and professional qualities.
  3. Submit current resume.
  4. Submit current teaching and other professional certificates.
  5. Meet the application submission deadline.

Applicants must submit a FAMU application, official copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts and an official copy or Graduate Record Examination results taken within the last five years to the following address:

Areas of Emphasis


Note: All courses in the educational leadership core are required courses.

** Requires completion of a minimum of forty-two (42) semester hours of prescribed course work (for the masters of science).

*** Required near completion of program.

****Course Requirements are subject to change in accordance with state and federal mandates.

Candidates must pass the Florida Educational Leadership Examination (FELE), the Educational Leadership program comprehensive examination, have at least a 3.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA), and have no grades lower that a “B”. Candidates must submit to the Department chair and Program Coordinator the URL for the TaskStream folio, which contains three graded 3 artifacts for each course prior to graduation from the program.
