The Purpose Of The Course Is To Develop In The Student An Understanding Of The Fundamentals Of Quantum Mechanics And To Use Those Fundamentals As The Basis For Understanding The Electronic Structure Of Atoms And Molecules And, In Particular, The Bonding Structure Of Molecules. A Level Of Mathematics Rigor Including The Use Of Differential Equations And Vector Analysis Will Be Required For Dealing With The Material.
Prerequisite: One Year Of Calculus Based Physical Chemistry Or By Consent Of The Department.
