LAE 5319 Foundations of Language and Cognition (3)

This course is to assist students in acquiring specific understandings of reading as a process of student engagement in both fluent decoding of words and construction of meaning. This course addresses (competency1) Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) Reading Endorsement Competency: “Has substantive knowledge of language structure and function and cognition for each of the five major components of the reading process.” The course addresses state (Just Read! Florida) and federal (No Child Left Behind Act of 2001) requirements that all teachers have the high quality skills to provide scientifically based reading instruction for all students.
