This course focuses on the biological, physical, psychosocial, and cultural aspects of aging.  Normal vs. pathological aging of the cardiopulmonary, musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and integumentary systems is discussed.  Discussions also include the benefits of exercise in prevention of and rehabilitation from functional limitations; how drug therapy can affect older individuals receiving physical therapy; education of the elderly; documentation and reimbursement in the Medicare system; and interdisciplinary approaches to geriatric care.
