General Education Core Requirements

General Education Course Requirements
All students enrolled in the lower division programs of the university must complete a minimum of thirty-six (36) credit hours (BOG Regulation 6.017) of approved general education coursework with a grade of “C” or above, unless otherwise noted by the academic program. General education includes courses from the following subject areas: Communication (6 hours), Mathematics (6 to 8 hours), Humanities (6 hours), Social Science (6 hours), Natural Sciences (6 to 8 hours), and Univesity-specificed General Education (3 to 6 hours). Communication
Students must complete a total of 6 credit hours in the area of communication, of which one course must be chosen from the statewide core course list below Humanities
Students must complete a total of 6 credit hours in the area of humanities, of which one course must be chosen from the statewide core course list below Humanities Electives
and the additional course maybe selected from the statewide course list shown above or a course from the approved list shown below Mathematics
Students must complete a total of 6 to 8 credit hours in the area of mathematics, of which one course must be chosen from the statewide core course list below Mathematics Electives
and the additional course may be selected from the statewide course list above or the approved list below Natural Sciences
Students must complete a total of 6 to 8 credit hours in the area of natural sciences, of which one course must be chosen from the statewide core course list below. Natural Science Electives
Social Sciences
Students must complete a total of 6 credit hours in the area of humanities, of which one course must be chosen from the statewide core course list below. University-specified General Elective Courses
Students must complete 3-6 credit hours of university-specified general education of which one course must be chosen from the list of African American courses below. |
