RED 5247 Supervision in Reading (3) Prerequisite: RED 5345 . This course (competency 5) requires students to participate in a supervised practicum involving assessment and problem-solving experiences designed to improve differentiated instruction and reading-related challenges. Based on a thorough review of the reading research literature and the knowledge gained in the coursework and field experiences phases of the course, the student is required to meet several requests. First, the student will select, plan, and use appropriate reading assessment instruments for the target group. Second, the student will implement instructional strategies with materials for the identified needs of the select group. With an emphasis on differentiated instruction, remedial reading instruction will be provided for a designated period of time in a K-12 classroom setting.
