Senior Recital Policy

All students are required to prepare a program of at least twenty (20) minutes in length during the final semester of applied music. Based on the evaluation of the senior recital hearing (a required diagnostic evaluation of selections from the prepared recital program program) the student, upon approval of the music faculty and the department chairman, will render a public performance. Advanced students may perform a public recital in the junior year. Such a procedure must begin with the recommendation of the appropriate applied teacher followed by the approval of the music faculty and department chair. Students must be enrolled in applied music during the semester of the senior recital hearing. The senior recital must be presented at least one semester prior to student teaching.

For piano majors up to one-third of the senior recital may be performed on the secondary instrument with the approval and supervision of both the piano and secondary instrument instructors.
