Department of Secondary Education, Technology Education, and Foundations

The Department of Secondary Education, Technology Education, and Foundations offers a number of undergraduate teacher education programs at the secondary school level in - select content areas. State-approved teacher education programs at the secondary level include science education with a concentration in biology, science education with a concentration in chemistry, English education, mathematics education, music education with a concentration in wind, piano and percussion, or concentration in voice or piano, science education with a concentration in physics, social science education with a concentration in history or political science, and technology education. The department has a state approved professional training option (PTO) program that provides an opportunity for students majoring in select non-education degree programs to seek temporary certification. Recent and pending modifications in teacher certification requirements in Florida may alter the requirements from those printed below. Each student is advised to consult the department and his or her respective academic advisor for more up-to-date information as it becomes available.

Music Teacher Education (with a concentration in voice or piano or wind, piano and percussion)

*(Effective fall 2015, students entering the programs and thereafter, are required to complete 120 semester hours)
